Very recommendable, even to people like me with very little experience with modern dance. These 3 pieces put together in a upbeat - calm - upbeat order, the middle piece “routine” serving as a more pensive, fluid work mostly accompanied by piano music - in contrast to electronic beats of the the other two.
Passion S is almost dystopian in aesthetics and a societal norm it projects, and how individuation happens through emotions setting everyone apart and uniting again in a non-normative way.
Rutin had a long sequence of video projection, which to me appeared as some drawings, some images of man-made habitat, urban patches in a round “planet”, the glimmer and the duotone effect on this video work had a 19th century feeling. Later in the piece I remember seeing a water reflection on the dancers, and that made me think of the land - water balance, water the natural and the land the man made.(Goethe, Faust?)
Excitement was truly exciting, quite demanding as a performance and certainly increasing the heartbeat. The color work was interesting.
As I mentioned, since this is like slices of different works in one program, I expect this to be very enjoyable without being too demanding for many.
